A laptop that has finished its first job in an office still has plenty of working life left. For a team on the other side of a border, that second life can be the difference between waiting on a technical fix and getting on with the work.
This is the thinking behind our latest community contribution. KGS has donated 4 refurbished laptops to Cornerstone Mission Department, to support their staff who serve communities across different countries, including Malaysia.
Mission teams working across borders depend on reliable devices for everyday tasks: coordinating with colleagues, preparing materials, keeping records and staying in touch with the teams back home. When a laptop slows down or stops working, the impact reaches well beyond one desk.
The 4 laptops will help Cornerstone Mission Department's staff handle their technical support needs, so more of their time and energy goes to the people they serve rather than to chasing equipment.
Access to a working computer is something many of us take for granted. For communities and organisations with limited resources, reliable technology can be hard to come by, and that gap shapes who can learn, communicate and work effectively. Closing it starts with getting usable devices into the hands of people who need them.
Donating refurbished laptops is one practical way to help bridge that digital divide. Each device that finds a new home means one more team member with the tools to do their work, and one less working laptop left sitting idle.
Refurbishing is one of the most practical ways to extend the life of electronics. Instead of a working laptop sitting unused or heading to the waste stream early, it returns to use with someone who needs it. That keeps useful devices in circulation for longer and reduces the demand for new ones.
It is a natural fit for KGS. Through our IT asset disposal and refurbishment services and our e-waste recycling, we work with organisations across Singapore to make sure their old equipment is handled responsibly. Donating refurbished laptops to a partner that will put them to good use is the same principle, applied to a cause we are glad to support.
As a Singapore-founded company, we believe the work we do should reach beyond our own facility in Tuas. Supporting a partner like Cornerstone Mission Department lets us share the value of what we do with communities that benefit directly from it.
Thank you to the Cornerstone Mission Department team for the work they do, and for letting us be a small part of it. We look forward to finding more ways to give technology a second life.
